Transcription of extract from Salisbury Journal 2nd December 1740 reads: "The ship bound from Newfoundland to Poole, mentioned in our last to have been carried into St. Sebastian proves to be the "Clement", Ketcher, master."

The "Nancy" Quickest Voyage ever known from Poole, 1752

Extract from Salisbury Journal 24th February 1752 describing how the "Nancy", Master- Courtin, made her voyage to South Carolina and back in three months and twenty days. "The quickest voyage ever known from this town." Cargo included 760 barrels of rice.

The "Sarah" taken by Spanish Vessels, 1740

Transcription of extract from Salisbury Journal 22nd January 1740 reads: "On Saturday last came advice, that the "Sarah", Captain Adis, of Pool, bound from Newfoundland for Viana, was in his passage taken by two Spanish Shallops, and taken to Gijon on the coast of Galicia."

The "Thomas" of Poole and French Privateers, 1746

Extract from Salisbury Journal of 4th August 1746 concerning a letter about the capture of the "Thomas" of Poole, Captain Parsons. They were taken by French Privateers who left one Englishman on board. This man, when his captors were sleeping, managed to bring the vessel and the four Frenchmen on board to Dover pier.
