"The ship bound from Newfoundland to Poole, mentioned in our last to have been carried into St. Sebastian proves to be the "Clement", Ketcher, master."

Extract from Salisbury Journal of 4th August 1746 concerning a letter about the capture of the "Thomas" of Poole, Captain Parsons. They were taken by French Privateers who left one Englishman on board. This man, when his captors were sleeping, managed to bring the vessel and the four Frenchmen on board to Dover pier.
