Phippard, Commander of "Stokes Bay" Appointed, 1739

Transcription of extract from Salisbury Journal 3rd July 1739 reads: "They write from Poole, that Mr John Phippard, one of the Aldermen of that town, is appointed Commander of the "Stokes Bay" smack in that Port, in the room of Capt. George Nicholson, deceased."
