In the 1911 census, Bertha Mabel Welch, age 21, is listed as head of the household at no. 226 High Street, Poole. She is living with her sister, Gladys, age 19 a telephonist and Post Office clerk and a visitor, Nora Eugenie Winter, age 21 and a teacher.
Bertha is possibly only listed as head as her father, mother and younger brother were visiting her mother's family in Spalding.
